FAQ's & other MTM information:

What is a Muffin Tin Meal?
A muffin tin meal is simply a meal, snack, or dessert served in a muffin tin, the foods divided up among the little compartments. That’s it!

Why serve food in a muffin tin? It seems a little weird.
Agreed! It is a little silly when you think about it. :)
Serving a meal in a muffin tin is just plain fun. It’s something different, breaking up the usual meal-making routine. It encourages the meal-maker (that’s you!) to offer a variety of foods, in small portions, which is a technique that generally appeals to children.

What is Muffin Tin Monday?
Muffin Tin Monday is a weekly blog link-up (aka “link party” or “blog carnival”) that takes place every Monday. It’s a time when moms (or other caregiver) who have made a muffin tin meal for their child(ren) can link-up a photo of their muffin tin meal and share that creation with others.

Why are there themes?
Each week there is a suggested theme for Muffin Tin Monday. Following the themes is not required (at all!), but a lot of moms enjoy following a theme when making a MTM. The theme offers a creative challenge and it’s pretty fun to see how different people interpret the same theme assignment. Again, using the theme is completely optional. Feel free to follow your own theme idea, or don’t make a themey muffin tin meal at all! You can still link-up your creation just the same! Please do!

How can I participate?
Everyone is welcome to join in and play along with Muffin Tin Monday! All you need is a muffin tin and food to fill it. Take a picture, post that photo online (on your blog, or flickr account, even a “public” Facebook picture will work). Then, link up your photo, using the URL from where the picture is posted, and add it to the link-up tool at the bottom of Monday’s post, here at

The Muffin Tin Monday post with link-up will go live Monday mornings. 10am EST, that's 9am CST, 7am PST.

Are there any rules to follow?
Yes, just a few!

1.    Please include a link back to the original Muffin Tin Monday post that you linked up with at in your own MTM blog post. This is so your viewers can find and see the other muffin tin meals that participated in the link-up! This is also considered good blog etiquette.

2.    The post you link-up must include a muffin tin meal (seems obvious, right?). If the post that is linked-up does not contain a muffin tin meal, I reserve the right to remove it from the link party. Divided plates and bento boxes are wonderful, but in keeping with the spirit of Muffin Tin Monday, please stick to muffin tins, cups and liners for the MTM link-up.

3.    Please include the direct link to your MTM post (the URL, also called the permalink) and not the link of your blog’s homepage, as this greatly inhibits MTM link party visitors from finding your muffin tin meal post after time. If you are unsure of how to do this, just email me and I'll explain it!

The history of Muffin Tin Monday:
This blog carnival originated in 2008 with Katy of the blog Sycamore Stirrings
When Katy’s family moved overseas, she passed it on to Michelle, who had been a long time participant in Muffin Tin Monday. Michelle continued to host Muffin Tin Monday for over four years and became affectionately known as Muffin Tin Mom.
Recently, Michelle has passed the duties of hosting Muffin Tin Monday to me, Melissa. (Hello!) I've really enjoyed playing along with Muffin Tin Monday for a couple years. You can see my past muffin tin meals by clicking here. :)

Other Muffin Tin Monday information:
Although not required, please try to visit a couple other muffin tin linker-uppers and leave a comment. It helps build camaraderie and is just a nice thing to do! :)

If you have a theme idea for Muffin Tin Monday, please drop me a comment and I'll see about getting it added into the schedule.

Please refer back to this page for updates to the MTM schedule of themes. The list at the top will be updated regularly!

If you would like to display a Muffin Tin Monday badge/button on your blog, you are welcome to it!
