frog box bento: ribbit lunch

While shuffling around some of my cabinet contents the other day I had some "forgotten" bento boxes out on the counter. I say "forgotten" because *I* never forgot about them, but my kids had. Ethan and Paige were very happy to see some of them again.

Ethan was particularly happy to see this guy.

I can't blame him, these Kotobuki bento boxes are my favorites too. :) Next, Ethan said something that caused me to do a total forehead slap to myself: "mom, you should have used this box when you made that Christmas frog bento".  He's talking about the Twelve Days of Christmas bento series I did, with the 10th day, ten lords a leaping bento! Ack!! He's so right, I SHOULD have used this box for that. Doh!!

Oh, well. Today it was used for his lunch.

In the bottom level he had peppered turkey roll-ups and Wheat Thins, separated by a homemade granola bar in the middle.

The top tier holds strawberries and baby carrots. Crunch and munch, yum. :)

This has been one of Gordon's favorite Bento boxes. We've used it weekly for over a year and a half.

That's about how long we've had ours, too. I really need to make it a more active part of our box rotation. I love it so much that I've been afraid something would happen to it...but it's really silly to keep something you like hidden in a cabinet forever, right? :)

Love the box!

And my favorite of this bento is actually the granola bar in a baggie as a divider. I like being able to send homemade treats like that, but they're messy if they're not kept in a bag. Glad to see you send it in a way that didn't make the bento look messy or anything.

Yep, Jessi - it would be very crumby if the granola bar wasn't wrapped in some way. This is a small piece of wax paper folded around it. I'm anti-baggie. :P
