two times the Goodbyn fun!

Lookie here, Byndi made a friend!
Goodbyn makes a friend

That's right, we got another Goodbyn! :)
I thought Goody would be an appropriate name for Byndi's pal, but I think my 8-year-old son has other ideas. ;-)

Today both my big boys took a Goodbyn to school and they were SO excited! :)

Goodbyn x2

The Goodbyn on the left is for my 6-year-old son. He's the one I shared about before, with his anti-bento lunchbox. I was very unsure of how he'd like the Goodbyn because he can be set in his ways, but he loved it right away! :) The contents of his lunch are pretty much the same as before:
In the top container he has his natural applesauce and peach yogurt. The blue pieces in there are tiny ice packs. They came as part of a larger ice "blanket" and I just cut out the size segments that I needed for this space. In the middle space is his beloved Horizon milk box, a spoon, and his mini fruit roll-up. The bottom spaces hold Goldfish crackers, popcorn, pretzels.

The Goodbyn on the right is for my 8-year-old son. His top container got popcorn, his water bottle holds ice water, in the bottom spaces he has mini saltine crackers, strawberries and grapes, and a cereal bar & granola bar.

Both boys were THRILLED to take popcorn in their lunches. That is something I don't pack often because it just takes up too much space in their regular lunchboxes. But popcorn is a perfect fit for the Goodbyn. :)

How cute! I keep debating wether my J is too old or not for one of these.. . I love the fact that you can put things like applesauce in without worrying about it spilling so much... hmmmm... thoughts?
Also, I had NO idea there are mini saltines!! Where-o-where do I find those?!? I remember eating saltines with you on the bus to school lol <3

BTW, I love the names Byndi & Goodbyn ^_^ Too cute!

J. is one year older than E... I don't know. Has J. seen it? E. was not keen on it when I showed him pics online, but once we had it he wanted to use it. No, let me elaborate - he LIKED it right away, but he was afraid he'd be teased at school for it. There are a couple boys he's with that are quick to call things "baby". His Disney Cars box he took to school one day was "babyish" according to these boys, and he's very sensitive about being teased. So he's been a little leary of some things due to that. He had said to begin with that he'd be happy to use it "family days, just not school days". But today was his first day taking it to school and he's not home with a report yet. :)
I found the mini-Saltines next to the oyster crackers. They are Premium brand. :)

I was a big cracker-o'holic in high school. Saltines with american cheese was high on my list of foods to be eaten. LOL :)

How would you say the size of this box compares to the Laptop lunchbox?

Melissa said... [Reply to comment]

It's a LOT bigger than the Laptop Lunches box. Now I only have the original Laptop, not the 2.0. But I'd say the Goodbyn compartments are about twice as deep. It probably holds twice as much as the LL, maybe more!
It's kind of hard for me to pack because I'm so used to small bento boxes that you fill completely!

Thanks for the info! I think I'll be skipping this box as the Laptop holds too much food for my boys! I suppose that will change as they grow up. Hopefully the box will be "cool" enough for them at that point! ;)

Hmm.. we'll have to see, either way, I *love that you can put the applesauce etc in it w/o an individual lid... so, even if it's just for home or day trips, we'll get use out it! Thanks Melissa! J's super sensitive about that stuff too, I wish he'd just go with what he likes and not worry about what the other boys think, but I guess we all go through that 'wanting to be cool' thing :( If only they knew the cool kids almost never actually are ^_^ except for us of course ;P
